Today was another stifling, sweltering humid day and tonight my student and I really had to push ourselves to get out and paint. As often happens, once we found our way to open sky and started working we felt much better. The air cleared and cooled and it turned into a beautiful evening.

  1. Jan this is really quite evocative--have you considered painting a larger version?

  2. A swish of this, a dab of that ... a smudge here and there ... And 'voila' another amazing SKY ! ... evocative and provocative ... definitely 'JAN' written all over it ! I can't wait to see the larger version (as prompted by Morgan) ... You are considering it Jan are you not ?!

  3. Just pondering my last comment... when saying 'a swish, a dab, a smudge' ...I by no means meant to make it sound as if I thought it is eas or that just anyone (like me) could do the same ! ... I am sure my swish, dab and smudge would result in a muddled puddle !
Jan I truly admire your talent.

  4. Beautiful sunset sky! Love the dark cloud that takes the eye to the ground, the tree and back to the downward sweeps of the yellow and gold. Absolutely lovely picture.

  5. Thanks Morgan--the idea is percolating..

Robyn I take it as an utmost compliment when someone indicates my paintings look effortless--my favourite is 'my kid could do that!' to me it means it translates as un-contrived and unconstrained and free---so thank-you!

Catherine, as always your words are so thoughtful and I so appreciate the feedback!
