June is ‘the door of the year’, the gateway to inner realms. In the goddess calendar the first 12 days of June belong to Hera.
European folklore tells us that: good weather in ‘Flaming June’ is required if there is to be a good harvest; bats flying on a June evening are a sign of hot, dry weather, and if swallows fly near the ground in June it’s a sign of coming rain.

  2. Wow Jan, I have missed so many lovely paintings! I really enjoyed looking through your posts. Loved the Jenny Jones poem (I can relate....) I know what you mean about the hospital setting in contrast to your wonderful nature experience. I love that combination of mustard, daisy and flocks. I think they need you to paint the walls in that place :) I hope this difficult time is going ok for you at the present time and you are getting out to paint.
June after the rain was very vivid and I loved the colors.
Thanks for the comment re: laying out paintings on the computer. I am definitely going to try that!
