UPCOMING

FALL CLASSES / WORKSHOPS

Painting with Oil
Foundation series addressing alla prima, wet in wet, glazing, colour, brushwork and mediums.

Spontaneous Sky

This series will address the the transient and optical effects of light and atmosphere. Paint skies incorporating alla prima and wet in wet techniques as well as glazing, scumbling and impasto.

Plein Air Landscape

Weather permitting, you will paint outdoors among vineyards, orchards and gardens. This exciting method of painting sharpens observation skills. Composition, value, colour, light, edges and atmospheric perspective will be addressed.

Encaustic Painting

Ancient and intriguing, this method of painting originated in Greece, where it was used for the
earliest easel and mural painting. A heady combination of colour,
melting wax and heat, encaustic mixes dry and oil pigments in hot beeswax.

Jan will demonstrate techniques including: fusion-'burning in', preparation of supports and grounds, glazing, layering and scraping, build up and texture, line and edge, collage and image transfer. Participants will explore these methods hands on with the expert guidance of the instructor.
